She had tried to keep the authorities from coming down on Spencer. She is, however, Hanover’s most talented wielder of a bladed weapon. She had actually fought off people for Spencer’s sake. The two of them act rather domestic in reform, they’re usually together, and Spencer is very possessive of her.
Merril isn't shy at all.
She fought off cops for Spencer once.
Sperril is kind of laid back domestic when together... Like Spencer would be quietly trying to sort out the smuggled goods in his room while Merril is there putting things away and then she'd hear the softest noise and she'd immediately grab a knife from somewhere and fling it and whoever had been listening would be missed by an inch and would flee. And then Spencer would ask, "How come you don't use that nice butterfly knife I got for you" and Merril would just smile and say "that's for special occasions" And they'd just carry on and Merril would leave to give Danny some sandwiches.
Merril is still a “boy” according to the institute standard.
She’s there as one of the people involved in a bigger instance, and trying to help a culprit get away. Said culprit was Spencer.
You have to wonder if the people who are actively trying to get Hanover stirred up are asking to be killed. ...because that was pretty much the only way things were going to end when the runs ended badly, and they succeeded in not only taking Kurt Hummel (who was still injured) hostage, but also Merril Portman. After that, Hanover just wanted people dead. And Charlie went as far as, "Will you change your mind?" and when Justin, Danny and Spencer said, "HELL NO.", he said, "Ok." They took Merril, not on purpose--spur of the moment she-was-in-the-way kind of thing. Justin may still be getting on his feet following his attack, but he wasn't going to stand by. Already, the institute was calling it a jailbreak on the part of Kurt and Merril, instead of treating it as a proper abduction. This just made everyone in Hanover madder and care less about what the institute thought of the onslaught that followed in gangland.
All Vampires have the power to hear thoughts and send psychic signals to other vampires. If they're strong enough, their messages can cross continents.
Everyone is at Dalton to learn to get along with other clans and to learn much about their powers and history.
With Spencer and Merril, they don't have to try hard to send messages to each other if one of them is in danger. If for any reason one of them is in trouble, even if he didn't mean to send an outcry, the other would feel it.
The Vampires at Dalton feed off the day students.
Mind control. Can place any thought in your head and convince you to do it. So far only effective against those taken by surprise.
