Full Name: Shane Henry Anderson
Goes By: Shane Age in canon: 16 Age as of January 2015: 20 (December 1994) From: Ohio, USA School: Stanton (2010), Walcott (2010-2011), Dalton (2011-2013) House: Windsor Graduated: 2013 Brothers: Blaine Sisters: NIL |
Shane Anderson is Blaine Anderson's excitable younger brother, currently studying at the Walcott School in Colorado. He is described as Blaine's opposite, being the taller, leaner brother with a mass of dark curls just like Blaine's, only he refuses to tame them down. He is first seen in The Wild One during the Winter Music Festival. Shane has yet to come out to his parents about his sexuality.
Blaine and Shane share a very good relationship. He doesn't attend Dalton Academy, therefore hasn't been assigned an "Alice in WarblerLand" nickname, but he fits in all the same. He's gay, like his brother - but just hasn't found the right person yet. While Blaine is more reserved and cautious, Shane runs purely on his heart alone, which gets him into trouble a bit. Shane is also a member of the Stanton High School Fabulous Five prior to being moved to Walcott. He appears to be the one member who did not change at all as he remains still excitable, open and big hearted. The side story and Blaine's telling in Jumping Hurdles reveals that Shane and Micah Randall were deeply involved in a relationship, and that Shane cared little about consequences as usual. He mentions in The Wild One that Blaine "took the bullet" for him, and it is subsequently revealed that Blaine had come out to their parents to cover up for him. Micah disappeared shortly after, and after Blaine, weakened by harassment, moved to Dalton, Shane also begs to be moved away and was sent to Walcott. |
Personal LifeGeneral FactsHe gets jealous and can be possessive and panicky. He can play the guitar. Shane eats anything and because he's so hyper, he burns it off like crazy. Some people think he's too thin. He doesn't like talking or thinking about the rockslide. He knows it'll effect him for all his life, but he's not going to let it take over. Shane gets attached to people and it's hard for him to get over them. His favorite color is green. He mainly he dances to lose himself in the music and forget the world. He's danced ballet and liked it. He has green-grey eyes. He can do the robot. He can work in a kitchen. He can follow recipies. He's not a virgin. Shane is addicted to caramel. Katherine thinks hes a better dancer than her because he can freestyle really well but he thinks she's pretty 'hot out there' when she dances. More on dancing: "I stared getting lessons a little before junior high. Mainly they put me in them to control me since I just blazed around everywhere. I dunno, I guess I want to be a pro someday? :) Join a troupe or a crew—go on tour? :)" He loves dance movies. When the boys decided to dress up in drag to be Kurt's mothers on Mothers Day, Shane dressed up in Princess Ariel's wedding gown. They were plotting this for days. Shane on cacti: “What’s the deal with cactuses? Cactuses? Cacti? What? It’s a spiky plant. It’s a pointy spiky plant—why are there spikes? Why is it green? Why do they come in funny shapes? Just--WHY?” He hates it when cookies get soggy in milk. Shane on colors: “It’s blue. Why does it have to be peacock or cerulean or azure or sky or bubblegum or whatever? It’s blue. Red, green, yellow, blue—there. Simple.” (This is also why he and Reed have difficulty in the clothes department) Shane on his hair: “What do you mean my hair’s a mess? It always looks like this. I don’t do anything to it to make it particularly messier or neater, it’s just THIS.” Shane likes listening to Taylor Swift. When given playdoh, he made a very long worm with it. He can barely read music, he just mimics it. He has green-gray eyes Shane apparently always talks fast when he’s freaked out as he used to do it with Micah, too. Shane called Clark a "Big blonde giant" He’s no five-star chef, but he’s decent in the kitchen. He can follow instructions in a cookbook and that’s always a good thing. The hardest dance Shane had to learn was folk dancing. Shane tried to gel his hair once and had disastous results. What He Wants To Do When He's OlderI want to be dancing, professionally? Maybe for people in concerts or stuff? Maybe be a part of a dance company or a dance crew, perform in big places. :) …eventually if I get successful enough or have enough money…I’d have the guts to propose marriage to…*cough* Well. Someone. *turns red* Someone who’s…kind of super talented and super rich and out of my league. If He Was Interested In Other GuysSure I was got interested in other guys, but not seriously. (smiles a little) I like to think of Reed as someone up there giving me some hope. See, I was looking forward to seeing Blaine for their Winter Fest thing, you know? I was just starting to think that I was going to be okay now, and I could rely on Blaine to help me along. Then I met Reed—He looked like Christmas morning. I just went—whoa. (laughs) So I figured, that was someone’s way of saying that I was going to be okay. DancingAccording to mom, I started dancing after I learned to walk. (bursts out laughing) I’d just be standing there, bouncing with my knees when there’s music that I like. …of course, back then it was to nursery rhymes, but you know…that was then. More On DancingI’ve danced ever since…I can remember? (laughs) But I danced crazy, and I kept bouncing off the walls, so the folks paid for lessons to tone it down a little. Yeah, I compete in competitions with my old club…and also in Walcott. Sometimes alone, sometimes with the group. My favorite song…I don’t actually have a favorite song. (shrug) I dance to anything. Blaine can dance, sure. But him and me—he can sing better than he dances, and I can dance better than I can sing. :D His Types Of DanceI’m good with modern dance, jazz and hip hop, but I took up some training in swing, latin and ballet—you know, for diversity and learning other skills. SpidersShane screams when he sees spiders. Blaine had run in to ask what happened, and Shane was clinging to a bed post five feet off the ground, screaming at the spider to get away from him. Kurt then told him ther was a chance there's more spiders where he was, which made him scream louder. He dropped to the ground and clung to Blaine, insisting the spider was the size of a house. Blaine just told him the spider was gone. Reed told him it was just a little spider, but Shane screamed that it was the size of an acromantula. The twins then smiled evily. JoustingAll boys and some girls had a jousting competition. Everyone rode a horse, and used an eleven-foot log to try and knock off their opponents. People were worried about Shane because of his concentration issues. The houses Windsor, Stuart, Hanover and Lancaster have agreed that whichever house "wins" will be served by all the other houses in a big cookout. Shane promised Reed that he'll fight for him. Shane was competing against Han from House of Westwood. Blaine was asking Shane if he was sure he wanted to do this, as Han was a regular but Shane just grinned and said he could take him. Shane remained confident, saying he could do this, no problem. When the flag dropped, Shane aimed his lance straight at Han who expected it and turned. Han then drove the lance into Shane and Shane flew right off his horse Micah, Blaine and Reed immediately ran over to Shane to see if he was okay. Blaine took his helmet off and begged Shane to say something. Shane began to yell out a string of curse words, so the boys relaxed a bit. Shane was clutching his shoulder when Blaine sat him up, and his eyes filled with tears from the pain. He said it didn't go to plan. Blaine and Micah were stripping Shane from his armor to see if he was okay, then all of them left the field to go get his shoulder checked out. School LifeGeneral FactsIf he did attend Dalton, he would most likely be in Windsor as Hanover and Stuart wouldn't be able to control him. He doesn't really have a permanant dance partner at his school, but he normally dances with one girl named Linda. He doesn't really have a best friend at his school because he's everyone's friend but not anyone particular. Dressing In DragThe boys were looking through old photos and were seriously arguing who looked the best in drag. "Look at your knees! You look like you've been kneeling in ashes!" "Screw you, man, my figure was better than yours!" "You don't even look good as a blonde! It takes charisma to pull that off!" " Your heels sucked!" "Excuse you, I looked like damn supermodel in those heels!" "You look like you needed some serious eyebrow threading." "At least I didn't have a five-o-clock shadow." "Hey, I was Claudia freaking Schiffer in that dress. What do you call that shapeless sackcloth you were wearing?" "That was PRADA!" "Man, that was a bad lipstick color on you." "That was the only thing I could get!" "I think you'd've looked better in coral, really brings out your eyes." "Really?" And Kurt, the aforementioned victim of all this drag-ness, is pretending this isn't happening. "Look at this. You're not even sitting like a girl. You're sitting like a red-light district bang tail." "I was the epitome of grace!!" "You need grace. Like prayers. Like before meals." They then organized a walk-off. Reed was happy to help while Kurt wasn't but the boys dragged them both off to dress them anyway. They all went to Dobry. 45 minutes later, they were all dressed up. Hope was standing on a big auditorium stage as the girls squeal in the audience. "WELCOME TO THE DALTON ACADEMY WALK OFF!!" David opens the show. In full getup and wig and makeup. And a long silver evening gown. Katherine was laughing and screaming simultaneously. Charlie, in heels, follows after Wes, looking like he's way too big for that cornflower blue dress he's got on. Hope was falling all over Sydney, giggling. And then Shane. Who's still in the wedding dress. Reed was laughing too hard to stand up as Shane struts down the runway, hamming it up. Kurt asked " ...why are you dating him again?" and Reed raises an eyebrow at him before gesturing to the runway. Blaine swirls into the runway and struts down it. Kurt: "......I retract my previous statement." Wes strolls in wearing a flowy, wavy dress and strutting along, and all the girls cheer because he's working it. Wes flashes everyone a pageant smile and blows kisses before strolling off. The twins wore matching dresses. They were wearing that Zuhair Murad dress Miley Cyrus wore to the oscars. Satoru wore a red kimono dress covered in roses. David wore a sparkling blue and gray ball gown. Wes and Han were the finalists. Wes for pure fabulousness. Han for a disturbingly convincing costume of full sweet pink frilly loli dress complete with giant curly wig and ribbons. Lucy was very proud of that. With matching coat. And gloves. And socks. And baby pink platform shoes. And a ribbon. It was disturblingly convincing. He looked like Lucy. He was wearing false eyelashes and sparkling eyeliner. Han had surprisingly nice legs in those socks. Lucy said he actually shaved them because she made him do it. Wes did get a crown when he won. He cried. And waved. The Dalton boys were laughing too hard to get up from their chairs. They were so proud of him. When Wes got changed back, he still wore his crown and pretended it wasn't there. Walcott Dance ClubThe whole Walcott School Dance Club knows for a fact that Shane is gay, but no one says it out loud inside or outside the dance hall. They protect Shane that way, but it’s a double-edged sword—it also means that his sexuality is slightly treated as taboo, like it’s something that’s not supposed to be mentioned. Ever. They also say nothing when Shane “goes out” with girls to please his parents. He’s never serious when he does, and the dance club knows it’s a charade—they let him do what he has to, and they don’t tell the girls anything. And I think yes, Shane is really into guys. ChildhoodGeneral FactsBlaine gave him the sex talk. Blaine and Shane are only 11 months apart. When Shane was a baby, he kept climbing out of his crib. He was hyper and laughed a lot, at lots of things, and was very cheerful. Shane was a very energetic kid. He’d bounce off the walls, high on sugar, and then flop and complain to Blaine when he sugar crashes. Blaine would just give him a fluffy pillow and let him sleep it off next to him. Things Shane got in trouble for as a kid: Marlene Anderson had this collection of delicate angel statuettes (you know, the kind that generally old ladies tend to collect to put in shelves or mantelpieces or on top of tables). She would keep reminding the boys that these were NOT TOYS. Shane kept picking them up and playing with them anyway. Shane is responsible for actively destroying 43% of that entire collection. (Blaine is responsible for breaking a mild 14% by comparison.) When he was a baby, Shane responded to music like he was one of those sound-activated toys. It didn't matter what kind of music it was, he squealed and looked at where it was coming from. As a baby, Shane was an even bigger curl-pile than his big brother, and he liked playing with slime. Reed Van KampReedFrom the moment Shane lays eyes on Reed in The Wild One, he is clearly extremely bedazzled and immediately pulls his brother away to interrogate him about the Van Kamp heir. He has since all but completely hounded Reed, baffling the other boy who is nevertheless tolerant of him. He is downright smitten from the very beginning, with very little explanation as to how it even happened (if he could explain it at all). He is seemingly able to respond by reflex (his dance training makes him incredibly well-coordinated) when the hazard-prone boy is in danger and easily catches him each time. In spite of his reckless and forward attitude towards it, however, his feelings are genuine enough for him to admit to Reed that he was aware how difficult he was making it for him as well and resolves to leave him alone right before the New York New Year party. He once again demonstrates his legitimate feelings for Reed by protecting him in the darkness and, while the whole opportunity was there, never does anything other than hold him at the Ball Drop. He also seems to be completely aware that Reed does not return his feelings and says as much before he bids him goodbye prior to the flight back to Colorado. In Paint, his first request after his brush with death was to see Reed one more time. In Ep. 23, "Showdown," Reed finds himself thinking: "...he did know he liked Shane. A lot. Romantically. And it was the only thing that was definite in his head right now." Shane and ReedShane would have a violent reaction if someone kissed Reed. He says meeting Reed was like having Christmas come early. And when Reed smiled at him, he was gone. After talking to him, he said he thought the shorter boy was perfect. The official standing is that Shane is crazy about Reed, and though he did try to hold that back a little past Winter Fest, he makes it kind of obvious. Shane will teach Reed to dance because he wants to dance with him one day. What Shane said about when Reed gave him the painting of him, "He painted me. I wanted to marry him. I was crazy happy—that painting is going on my wall." He thinks Reed gives the best cuddles even though they've never cuddled. Shane likes Reed's height because it's easier for him to catch him (Reed) when he trips. He likes to kiss the cuts/scratches on Reed even though Reed gets embarrassed. Shane is Reed's fashion opposite. That boy (Shane) looked like he rolled out of bed, grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, sneakers, and ran out. Reed (and Kurt, as Shane is his boyfriend’s brother) are semi-permanently DYING to dress him properly, because he’s contrasting with his brother, who gives careful attention to his outfit’s lines and style. Shane does not know designers. He can’t tell the difference between something retail, something couture, something from a flea market, or something that someone just whipped up at home in a sewing machine. He finds it embarrassing, because Reed is so erudite at these things, but to be perfectly honest, Reed doesn’t care and finds it nice that he doesn’t know. If Reed got sick, Shane would freak out initially. Then someone will have to smack him. Then he’ll get to his senses and start taking good care of Reed. Shane’s concern is that Reed would find him…well…a lot less erudite than than he is. He wouldn’t be able to tell one style of painting to the next—he doesn’t even properly discern colors. Shane was Reed's first kiss. Shane would be listening to his iPod while Reed paints, and when Reed gets tired, Shane would sit with him and they’d watch an old movie about dance and they’d fall asleep like that. Shane would never force himself onto Reed. Shane once busted into Reed’s room dancing to Ain’t No Stressin’ and Reed kind of just smiled and kept painting like nothing was happening. Shane tried to impress Reed by making a shirt. …it ended up having three armholes and one sleeve longer than the other. Reed tried very hard not to laugh. Failed. Erupted into fits of giggles. Shane kind of just tossed the shirt away and laughed. If Shane ever saw Reeds Cheerios performance: Shane would ask for COPIES. To GAPE at. And print out screencaps. Once, Reed held Shane's hand and helped him paint. Reed actually likes it that Shane can't tell the minute nuances of color. He thinks it helps puts things to perspective. Shane likes the fact that Reed's pajama sleeves are too long. Thinks its cute. Shane was singing 'The Fear You Won't Fall" while playing guitar, and Reed was curled up beside him, singing along softly. The two of them shared a little kiss after the song, Reed looking pink-cheeked and very happy. Shane was just grinning like a lunatic. Shane brought Reed a very large teddy bear, which Reed then named 'Shane'. When all the boys got together to read scary stories to each other; Reed is in a horrid state of distress and clinging onto Shane who is clinging onto Blaine with one hand. Finding Out Reed Is TicklishTweedles’ condo, during the New York timeline. Living room. Afternoon. Reed was standing, painting. Shane turned up the Tweedles’ sound system and was freestyling all over the place, clowning around, trying to distract Reed, who just pretended to ignore him. In the end he prodded his side and Reed jumped. XD He knew immediately, I think, because he grinned and I think Reed knew he was in danger because he immediately ran for it. If He Wants To Be Reed's First Kiss(choke, cough, scoff, snort) …pfft…no. (cough) Because… That would imply that I was…you know…thinking about it…which I am not…because that would be totally totally bad to think of considering that it’s Reed…(red in the face)…I mean it’s not like I go around thinking what it’s like to kiss him, because…you know…that’s totally ridiculous…(cough) …I think I hear the fire alarm. (races off) After His Kiss With ReedWhen the two of them broke from the kiss, Shane had been very, very, very careful. He was staring at Reed and moving slowly—the kind of thing you’d do when you spot a small animal and you don’t want to scare it away. Reed seemed to realize what just transpired and he turned scarlet and got really flustered and then they both tried to say something at the same time. And then they stopped. And they tried again—and ended up talking over each other again, and then they stopped. Finally, Shane just took Reed’s hand and gave him a hopeful smile. Reed smiled back and squeezed his hand. Taking The Painting Up The MountainOh the painting? I took it everywhere with me ever since I got it. So naturally, I took it up the mountain too. (pause, considers) Honestly, I think it’s why I fell in the first place. I saw it slip from my bag and I tried to grab it back—" ... "I could’ve let the Mona Lisa fall down the gorge, but I’m not letting that painting get away! (grumble, sits huffily) In the end it slipped anyway. (looks bummed) Shane and HildeOkay, if hypothetically Shane and Reed finally get it together and then Shane is an active hindrance to the sparkling career Hilde plans for Reed—she will most likely do everything in her power to remove him. (Think Blaine and Shane’s dad to Micah.) But she will do it less upfront, and be far more stealth about it. And no. Reed won’t get a say. He’ll want to get a say, and in all likelihood he might even fight—but based on Reed’s current emotional quotient (the future status is still vague), versus his mother it’s more likely he’ll end up being folded to her whims. Hilde and ReedWell, Hilde's always introducing trying to introduce him to young people of the same...standing. Reed always slips away because he can't handle socializing with them on a prolonged basis. Finally, Reed shook her off by saying that being with someone might take time away from career focus. Which she liked hearing and that's currently what's saving Reed from her attempts. But if she were to find out where Reed was so inclined and that he is open to the idea of...someone, it's CONTROL CITY. ...if she were to meet Shane and found out that this was going on, then Reed's whole cover will be blown and she'll take over. Shane would take anybody if it means keeping their grubby paws off Reed. Blaine AndersonBlaineThe brothers care very deeply for one another, but Shane clearly feels the full brunt of guilt for everything that Blaine does for him. He tells Reed in 3...2...1 that he is tired of making things difficult and making trouble for his brother, who seemed to spend his time freeing Shane from one mess or another. He is also fiercely protective of his elder brother, as is revealed in Comes In... when he all but throttles Logan and tries to discourage him from interfering with Blaine and Kurt so his brother could be happy. Shane and BlaineShane likes to tease Blaine for being short. Shane was dying to come out, he wanted to so badly, but in Blaine had told his dad first of all that Shane was out late to dance practice. Shane was hiding in the kitchen, sitting on the floor and crying while this was going on. The moment Mrs. Anderson drew the dad away upstairs and left Blaine in the living room, Shane ran out and went to his brother crying and apologizing like he couldn’t stop. Blaine says that when Shane gets into something, he tends to just go for it. His two settings are “off” and “maximum”. His life mission is to find Blaine's hair gel stash and dump it in his shoes. For National Brothers Week, Shane was clinging to Blaine like a sloth. When all the boys got together to read scary stories to each other; Reed is in a horrid state of distress and clinging onto Shane who is clinging onto Blaine with one hand. What He Likes Best About Blaine:) I can always count on Blaine. I’m not really all that responsible and I get into a whole lot of trouble but…Blaine’s somehow always there when everything gets rough. Even after that accident in Colorado…Blaine was the first person I saw when they brought me back. :) How he puts up with me, I don’t know, but I’m glad he does. Micah RandallMicahShane and Micah were very much in love during their time together in Stanton High School. Blaine reveals that upon Micah's disappearance, Shane was heartbroken. As of E23 - Showdown, with Micah's sudden, unexpected reappearance, Shane is shown to have been comletely taken aback and completely unprepared for his return. The way they behave in front of one another expresses that there are still things for the two of them to properly work out, and it puts to uncertain terms any kind of relationship Shane might currently have with Reed. Shane and MicahShane believed he was terribly, desperately in love with Micah and might still be. (Later revealed to still be in love with Micah, just more in love with Reed) When he saw Micah again, he thought he was seeing a ghost. He didn't think he was actually there for a minute. He said it didn't feel real seeing him after all that time. He thinks it was hard to leave Reed during the Micah thing, because it was confusing and Reed was looking at him with a certain look. He lost his virginity to Micah. When he and Micah had sex, Micah topped. When Shane was dating Micah, he brought his boyfriend chocolate ice cream every day for 12 weeks, not knowing that Micah didn't like chocolate. Micah ate it anyway. If Shane And Micah FoughtYes. One time, Shane saw Micah reading a very old-looking book. It was in a pitiful state, all ratty and falling apart. He took note of the title. Then he went and got a new copy of it, took the old one out of Micah’s bag and swapped it out with the new one. He got rid of the old one. When Micah found the book gone, he flipped out. That book had been a very old print and it had been one of those from his great grandfather’s library. It had both sentimental value and the fact that it was an old print, well… Shane got upset, and said that he thought it was some old book Micah had to put up with and he was just trying to help. Micah told Shane that he’d always told him not to just take his books without at least telling him first. It did escalate into a bit of a fight, and Micah stormed off. Blaine called Micah later on asking if he’d seen Shane. It turned out that Shane didn’t go home—he’d literally tried to find the book again. But since he threw it out, it could’ve ended up anywhere. Blaine and Micah went out in the pouring rain trying to find Shane and they found him walking up the street in a godawful state (all flushed and eyes swollen and his clothes had mud and stains everywhere). Blaine and Micah went up to him to yell at him to ask what he thought he was doing—and all Shane had in answer was to hold out the old (now even more ruined) book. Micah ended up just grabbing him into a hug and telling him that he shouldn’t have gone after it because…well…if anything had happened to him… It worked out okay after that. And Micah still has that old book. Jude WhittakerFavorite Memory Of JudeMy happiest memory of Jude… would be those times when we’d be making faces in front of his camera and just kidding around… (smiles faintly) He took lots of photos of us, and we tried to keep him in the photos with us too, so he wasn’t just behind the camera. We have less photos of Jude than we have of each other… But all those times he was there, Jude was smiling, laughing. …those were the happiest, I think. |
